The International Aviation College (IAC) in Ilorin is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) in Zaria. This partnership aims to enhance manpower development within the aviation sector.

The college also plans to establish a School of Engineering and introduce short courses, such as Cabin Crew training, to boost the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the Kwara State Government-owned Aviation Training School.

Kwara State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr (Mrs) Mary Ronke Arinde, made this announcement on Monday while inaugurating the 2023 annual training of the League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) at IAC, Ilorin.

Dr Arinde reiterated the commitment of the state governor, Mall. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to reposition the college for effective service delivery. “As we speak, arrangements have been concluded on Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between International Aviation College (IAC), Ilorin and Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria

Ag. Rector of the college, Capt. Yakubu Okatahi, declared that aviation remains the safest means of transportation globally.

He however declared that only less than 10 per cent of the population like the high-net-worth individuals, politicians and businessmen who constitute the frequent fliers.

He urged journalists to shun sensationalism in their reportage of events in the aviation sector.

There are representatives of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) PLC, among others, attending the training.
